The 2022 Cuvée Sagittaire shows a dense purple red in the glass alluding to its notable structure and intensity. On the nose this wine gives spicy blue and black fruit aromas with an intriguing underlying earthiness. On the palate this wine is notably structured and textured with substantial, firm tannins surrounded by flavors of crushed blackberry and raspberry. The weight and structure of this wine suggest it will age very well over years to come.
Bottling by the end of the year
The 2022 Pinot noir, Cuvée Sagittaire is comprised of clone 828 and 943 positioned on the shale dominant soils of the Domaine Messier property. Clusters were picked by hand before complete destemming. In order to achieve optimal extraction before fermentation, the fruit underwent a cold maceration for five days before indigenous fermentation spontaneously began. Gentle and minimal remontage was carried out once a day before press-out just before dryness. This wine was settled in tank before being put to 30% new French oak barrels for an extended aging of 15 months.
