THE VINEYARD
As stewards of our land, we commit to its care with sustainable and organic farming practices and seek to make wine that is the ultimate expression of its terroir and season.
With a location seven miles from the Pacific Ocean, the cool coastal climate is distinctly suited for Burgundian varietals. Fog arrives daily to caress the vines, while their roots anchor into loamy soil layered upon weathered shale.
The vineyard is made up of 93 acres, with 20 acres of vines planted on 1102P and 110R rootstock:
51% of pinot noir (clones 72, 143, 828, 943)
49% of chardonnay (clones 38, 70, 72, 80)

THE WINERY
The Domaine Messier winery is located in Gonzales, California and managed by winemakers Greg and Chris Vita with wine consultation provided by Etienne Grivot of Domaine Jean Grivot in Vosne-Romanée.
We are delighted to announce the unveiling of our 2022 rosé de pinot noir and 2022 chardonnay, wines that represent the youthful promise of our coastal terroir.
The 2022 wines are as radiant and mysterious as the globular cluster they’re named after, the Messier 22 object.
